Facial Blurring = Securing Individual Privacy?

There is really a certain ‘ick’ reaction when some public images are captured and then widely disseminated online (such as the above Google Streetview picture) – there is an expectation that certain contextual, culturally specific privacy norms carry over into ‘public’ spaces…companies that want to avoid doing evil would be well served to realize privacy as a cultural, rather than an engineering, issue. Update: EDLs Live in BC

British Columbians can now apply for Enhanced Drivers Licenses (EDLs) for land and sea entry into the US. Enhanced Identity Documents (EIDs) will be made available for individuals who cannot, or do not wish to, carry a drivers license. Continue reading
